HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Hundreds of people from the Hattiesburg area took part in a tasty Hub City Christmas tradition Saturday that helps the Kiwanis Club help children. They ate flapjacks and sausage at the 51st annual Pancake Day at the Sigler Center.

The event is a fundraiser hosted by the Hattiesburg and Hub City Kiwanis clubs.

Proceeds will benefit many children's services in our area.

"A lot of it goes to the Salvation Army, to Aldersgate Mission, to Boys and Girls clubs, the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and other children-oriented charities," said Roger Smith, chairman for Pancake Day.

Smith said the clubs were prepared to feed about 1,000 people.

Following a school-record 55 wins and run that ended in an 8-7 loss in the NJCAA national championship, Jones County Junior College softball is eager to open the 2018 season on February 3. Coming that close to the school’s first national title serves as motivation enough for the Lady Bobcats. Regardless, expectations are always high for coach Chris Robinson’s teams – JCJC is a combined 105-12 the last two seasons.
