VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -
Valdosta State head coach David Dean no doubt knows the old football cliche, defense wins championships.
Dean hopes his Blazers offense can prove that saying wrong against Minnesota State Mankato on Saturday.
This DII semifinal matchup will likely hinge on the VSU offense against the Mankato Maverick defense.
Valdosta State is one of the top ranked offenses in the nation when it comes to scoring.
The Mavericks defense is also in the top ten when it comes to not giving up points.
Blazer quarterback Cayden Cochran knows the offense is going to need perhaps their best performance of the season on Saturday.
"We are going to have make big plays. They are very disciplined. They play very hard. Best defense we have played all year. We are going to have to go out and play as disciplined as them and not give anything up. Play almost perfect", said quarterback Cayden Cochran.
Game time is 3:00 p.m. Saturday in Mankato.
The game can be seen only on the Internet at ESPN3.
