Gas leak closes portion of Highway 42 in Petal

Posted: Updated:
PETAL, MS (WDAM) -

A gas leak on Highway 42 in Petal has closed the west bound lane near the high school for a period of time Thursday.

The road was closed between Mulberry Lane and Herrington Road. Currently the lane has been re-opened, however west bound traffic is being diverted into the east bound lane near the Calvary Baptist Church.

Petal School Police say the leak is not disrupting the school day and they anticipate any problems when school lets out.

Petal and Fire And Police are on the scene as well as Forrest County Emergency Management.

Updates will be provided as they become available.
