Final two suspects in USM assault arrested

THE FOLLOWING IS A PRESS RELEASE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI:

The last two suspects connected with a Nov. 28 fight that occurred near the Walker Science Building on The University of Southern Mississippi Hattiesburg campus were arrested today after turning themselves in to University Police. Neither are students at the university.

The suspects and charges include:

*Jasper Brown, 21, of Petal, Miss., possession of a weapon on a campus/hindering prosecution.
*Lemanuel Carson, 23, of Petal, Miss., conspiracy to possess a weapon on campus.

A total of six suspects were arrested. No injuries resulted from the incident.

"As a result of these two most recent arrests, we do not expect further arrests in this case," said Southern Miss Chief of Police Bob Hopkins.
