WDAM Viewpoint- 'Tis the season for giving

One of my grandkids gave me this the other day.  It's filled with popcorn and after you've enjoyed the popcorn, you have a neat coin bank.  I got to thinking how neat it would be to put loose change in here until next holiday season and then use it to help fill the Salvation Army kettles next Christmas.  Or, for that matter, to give to any other charitable organization that helps the less fortunate.  We might be surprised at how much pocket change we come up with to help the needy.  Of course, we don't advocate waiting until next Christmas to give.  We have the opportunity to do so now.  It won't put that much of a dent in your budget to donate the coins left over from a shopping trip now.  There is need, means and opportunity.  It's easy to give to those you know and love.  Many of them will give you something in return.  But, the true spirit of giving is to give to those who don't have the means to help you in return.  You'll be blessed alright…just perhaps in a different way.  The One whose birthday we celebrate said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive."  Try it…you'll like it.

I'm Jim Cameron and that's today's Viewpoint.  Write and let us know what's on your mind.
