COVINGTON COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A Covington County woman was murdered inside her home by her boyfriend on Saturday who later killed himself.

Covington County Sheriff's Deputy Michael Kelly said Saturday's homicide and suicide was a "complete and utter tragedy that claimed the life a beloved citizen."

Blanche Lott, 55, was found dead inside her childhood home Saturday night; only hours after Seminary's Christmas parade.

Lott was described as a local good Samaritan known best for her volunteer work with the elderly.

"She was my better half. She was the perfect woman," said Lott's 33-year-old son, Jason.

Jason, who has cerebral palsy, depended on his mother as his caregiver. When Jason hadn't heard from his mother on Saturday he asked neighbor Constable Billy Pitts to check on her. Pitts discovered Lott dead in her bedroom from multiple gun shot wounds.

Clues at the scene pointed towards Lott's boyfriend, Frank Del Garza. According to investigators, Garza fled the scene, and later shot himself in front of his parents' grave in Edenburg, Texas.

"I don't know who's going to take care of me now," said Jason. "I just want to fall asleep and wake up with my momma."

A memorial service for Blanche Lott will be held at Mount Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery Thursday afternoon, December 6th, at 3 pm.  Billy King Memorial Chapel in Collins is taking care of arrangements.
