The second annual "Give a Child a New Book" initiative needs your help.
According to the pastor of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Father Tommy Conway the initiative hasn't reached its goal of collecting 5,000 new donated books from the public. So far, only 600 have been donated .
The deadline to reach 5,000 is December 7. Conway says this drive tries to ensure children from infancy to age 12 have something under their tree that will make more of an impact than a toy .
Donation locations for the new books are Cook Library on Southern Miss Camps, St. Thomas Catholic Church. Southern Pine Electric Power Association, Main Street Books, Long Beach Public Library and USM Gulf Coast Library.
