Mississippi’s largest Christmas parade gets swampy for the holidays

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Every year on the first Saturday of December Mississippi's largest Christmas parade gathers thousands of spectators and children who are ready to see Santa Claus.

This year the Laurel Sertoma Christmas Parade theme "Bayou Christmas" had many floats decorated with grass, fishing poles, boats, and even alligators.

The parade started by Sawmill Square Mall and ran through the business district in historic downtown Laurel which included many local school bands, the Jones County Fire Department, the Laurel Police Department, the Mayor of Laurel, Lieutenant Tony Stiles, and many more.

To add to the Bayou Christmas theme, this year's parade Grand Marshall was History Channel's hit reality series "The Swamp People" R.J. and Jay Paul Molinere.
