Dryden announces candidacy for Ward Four council seat

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Hattiesburg native Mary Dryden became the first to officially announce her candidacy Thursday morning for the Hattiesburg City Council. She is running in Ward Four, a seat currently held by Councilman Dave Ware.

Dryden is an educator and counselor. She has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Masters in Counseling Psychology, both from Southern Miss.

She is married to her husband Steve and has two grown children.

Dryden says her primary goal as a representative of Ward Four is to draw people together in a common purpose and a shared vision for the community.

"For the city I would like for all of us to feel like we share a common purpose and a common vision," said Dryden. "I's like for us to feel connected and for all of us to be proud of Hattiesburg and be able to call it home."

Candidate qualifying for the 2013 races Is in March.
