HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - For the third consecutive year the Hattiesburg Salvation Army opened their doors to the less fortunate for a Thanksgiving meal.
The homeless and people with no other place to go were invited to join in the holiday feast. The meal consisted of turkey, ham, roast beef and all the traditional fixings. The celebration took place at their emergency shelter and also featured holiday music and an opportunity for fellowship.
Captain Francis Gilliam said with out the many volunteers help, the meal would not be possible.
Our volunteers are the heartbeat of our agency, we can't do it without them," said Gilliam. "We have our cook who prepared the meal and the all the volunteers that helped them.
Captain Gilliam said they expected to feed about 100 people.
