While most people across the country could enjoy Thanksgiving at home with family, many charged with keeping the public safe were on the job.
Here in Hattiesburg, the firefighters at station four made the best of the situation by hosting a Thanksgiving feast. First responders from AAA ambulance Service were invited to join the firefighters for the celebration.
The meal was prepared by the firefighters and included pork roast, ham, stuffing, green beans, mac and cheese, and assorted desserts.
Though they said they would have liked to spend the holiday with their families, they said working to protect the public is still rewarding.
"Even though I have to work the holiday, it's not necessarily burden," said Alejandro Betancourt, HFD Firefighter. "It's a living I chose to have and I enjoy it."
