Hub City society distributes 150 food boxes to needy families

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Thanks to the Society of St. Vincent De Paul, every year many needy families in the Hattiesburg area are able to enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner.

By distributing 150 dinner boxes, St. Vincent De Paul give many families the opportunity to be able to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.

"Once a year we want to try to help make the holidays especially the meal time for family important," said Hattiesburg's St. Vincent De Paul President Don McCloskey. "We get together to put the 150 boxes together to make Thanksgiving meaningful to them. I hope it will just bring a sense that people still care about them, and people are not going to leave them abandoned in a time that their needing."

Each Thanksgiving box included a fresh turkey, a bag of rolls, mashed potatoes, yams, vegetables, dessert, and many more items.

St. Vincent De Paul thanks St. Thomas, Sacred Heart, and the community for all their help.
