A Hattiesburg woman died Thursday morning when her small apartment caught fire.
Coroner Butch Benedict identified the victim as Rosalyn Packer, 59.
The fire started in an apartment in a four-plex in the 200 block of Tuscan Avenue. The fire was confined to one apartment.
Benedict says it appears the woman was overcome by smoke and died of smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Investigators said they suspect the fire started on the stove.
