JACKSON (WDAM) - The state auditor's office says two people have been arrested in a surplus property investigation in Bassfield.

State Auditor Stacey Pickering says Brenda Saulters and Billy Matthews turned themselves in to Rankin County authorities -- after being indicted on several counts. 

The auditor's office has been investigating surplus property purchased by the city of Bassfield.  The auditor's office concluded the property was converted for personal use. 

Arraignment for Saulters and Matthews  is set for Friday morning at 9:00 in Rankin County Circuit Court.
