WDAM Viewpoint- Buy at home

Posted: Updated:

There's no doubt, for many people shopping and buying on the Internet takes some of the pain and hassle out of holiday shopping for those who really don't like to shop.  This is especially true during the holiday season when traffic is at its zenith.  However few things come without possibly unintended consequences.  The down side of people doing so much shopping online is the amount of dollars that go out of town.  Locally owned retailers especially depend on the Christmas and holiday buying season often to determine whether or not they will make a profit for the year.  Despite the bad name it has often been given…in a free enterprise economy such as ours…businesses can't exist without it.  Profit pays the employees and keeps the money turning over locally to benefit the home town economy.  And…there's nothing like good home town customer service.  So as this year's big shopping season approaches think about doing your shopping at home.  You'll be helping your friends, neighbors and community.

I'm Jim Cameron and that's today's Viewpoint.  Let us hear from you.
