Neil Watson out for USM men's home opener

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

It's not the way Donnie Tyndall wants to begin his tenure in Hattiesburg, but when Southern Miss hosts Western Kentucky for the first game of the 2012-2013 season, it will be without returning junior guard Neil Watson.

The 2012 Conference USA Newcomer of the year suffered what was thought to be a slight thigh bruise early last week, but this week that injury was upgraded to a slight tear in his thigh.  He will miss the home opener and is expected to miss anywhere from a week to two weeks following Saturday.

Watson isn't the only returning player the Golden Eagles will be without. Junior guard Cedric Jenkins will also miss the Eagles' season-opener with the Hilltoppers. Tip off in the Reed Green Coliseum is set for 7:30 pm.
