SUMRALL, MS (WDAM) -

Mississippi Supreme Court Justice Mike Randolph, who's running for re-election, was among the thousands of South Mississippians casting ballots on Tuesday. He and his wife, Kathy, voted just before noon at the Sumrall Voting Precinct.

Randolph was appointed to the bench by governor Haley Barbour in April of 2004, but had to run for the office again in November of that year.

He's facing Vicksburg attorney Talmadge Braddock.

"We're real excited," said Randolph. "We're well-prepared and worked all 27 counties. I finished yesterday in Stone and Hancock County and then back up here. We're getting a lot of positive comments," he said.

Before his appointment to the court, Randolph practiced law in Hattiesburg for 28 years.
