HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

At approximately 2:30 p.m. a 35-year-old woman was traveling east on Lower Myrick Road in Jones County when she ran off the road.

According to Public Information Officer Linda Cranford, when the woman tried to jerk the wheel back on the road, the 1998 dark blue Chevrolet Blazer ended up flipping two to three times which caused the woman’s 4-year-old son to eject out of the vehicle.

The woman also had her 2-year-old daughter with her who was still in the vehicle after the accident and appeared to have minor injuries.

Cranford says the 4-year-old boy was airlifted by Baptist Life Flight to Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson and has life-threatening injuries.

The mother along with her 2-year-old daughter sustained what appeared to be minor injuries and were transported to South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel.
