JACKSON, MS (WDAM) -

Friday, the Mississippi Ethics Commission reversed a July opinion which stated college board member Dr. Doug Rouse may have violated ethics laws because his business provides medical services to Southern Miss.

The newly issued opinion says Rouse's clinic, Southern Bone and Joint, and its partners can provide medical care for Southern Miss athletes and personnel.  The ruling also suggests college board member Dr. Ford Dye, whose ear, nose, and throat clinic provides medical care for Ole Miss, may continue to provide its services.

The ruling paves the way for Southern Bone and Joint's 13 orthopedic surgeons and three sports medicine surgeons to continue to serve USM, and allows Rouse and Dye to continue to serve on the Institutions of Higher Learning board.
