The following is a press release from the State of Mississippi:
A Pearl River County husband and wife have been
indicted and arrested for exploiting over $100,000 from a vulnerable
person, announced Attorney General Jim Hood today.
Judy Quinn Anselmo, 56, was arrested by
investigators with the Attorney General's Vulnerable Adults Unit on
October 17. Her husband, Randall Alexander Anselmo, 65, recently turned
himself in to authorities in Pearl River County on Monday.
The arrests follow recent indictment by the Pearl River County Grand
Jury on one count each exploitation of a vulnerable person. The
indictment alleges that the defendants exploited a vulnerable relative
for over a year and a half by "the illegal or improper
use of (victim's) resources for Randy and Judy Anselmo's profit or
advantage, with or without the consent of (the victim) by using money
that (the victim) received in the form of social security, annuity
payment, and other monies…for their own use amounting
to a financial loss of $100,005.61."
"We thank Sheriff Allison and his deputies for
their assistance in arresting these defendants to face charges," said
Attorney General Hood.
If convicted, the Anselmos face up to 10 years
each behind bars. They were booked into the Pearl River County jail
and bond set at $10,000.
The case is being investigated by Perry Tate and
will be prosecuted by Special Assistant Attorney General Marvin Sanders
of the Attorney General's Vulnerable Adults Unit.
As with all cases, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
