Seismic event recorded near sinkhole

NAPOLEONVILLE, LA (WAFB) -

There are reports tremors were recorded last week near the massive sinkhole in Assumption Parish.

According to The Shaw Group, there was a seismic event about 1,600 feet below the surface Tuesday.

It happened on the western side of the Napoleonville salt dome.

The event reportedly did not have any effect on cavern pressure and there have been no bubble sites.
