HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Although Halloween is still a few days away, some holiday events are already taking place.

Some of the Hub City's best pumpkin carvers gathered for an annual contest at T-Bones Records and Cafe on Wednesday.

Several dozen people competed for gift certificates and bragging rights for the best-carved jack-o-lantern.

During the event, folks also enjoyed a classic silent horror movie.

The winning entry featured a scene from a more recent film...The Nightmare Before Christmas.
