Surrendered cats ready for adoption at Spay and Neuter Clinic

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Eight cats surrendered earlier this week in Lamar County are now available at the Southern Pines Animal Shelter Spay and Neuter Clinic.

The shelter took in a total of sixteen dogs and cats after they were called to a home in Lamar County. Shelter management says the owner of the animals was good hearted, but had just got in over her head.

All the animals were taken to the shelter where they were checked out and received their spay or neuter surgery. Three-dogs and four-cats were then allowed to be returned to the owner.

The eight surrendered cats were brought to the adoption center because of overcrowding at the shelter. Their adoption fee has been reduced in an effort to get speedy adoptions for them.

"Their adoption fee is a minimum of a $10-donation," said Brittany Mcallister, Adoption Center Manager." "They've been fixed, vaccinated, de-wormed, they have a micro chip installed, and they've been check by our vet to make sure they are completely healthy. They are all really nice, some of then a little shy at first, but they warm up really nicely."

The Adoption Center is located on Hardy Street on the corner of Hutchinson Avenue.
