Two Laurel employees are without jobs after the company who
manages the city's water and sewer department decided to restructure.
The restructuring comes on the heels of an internal investigation of some missing funds.
Earlier this year, $4,100 came up missing from the water and sewer department.
The
five employees who worked in that department were reportedly given a
lie detector test but no one was officially terminated. However, several
weeks after the incident, the administration placed an order on last
week's agenda to abolish two supervisory positions.
Laurel Chief
Administrator, Dennis Keveryn says the reorganization had nothing to do
with the missing funds but United Water just wanted to manage their own
employees.
