JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Hinds County Sheriff's Department has seized $40,000 worth of drugs and made seven arrests. Those arrests were made between Oct. 9 and Oct. 15.

Sheriff Tyrone Lewis said this particular marijuana, with the street name "purp",  is grown indoors, contains up to three times the active ingredient content and sells for triple the price.

Those arrested are:

  • Harrell Blackmon, 34, of Jackson, charged with possession of cocaine.
  • Kenneth l. Meeks, 24, of Jackson, charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
  • Dandre Wood, 24, of Jackson, charged with possession of marijuana.
  • Marshall Mosley, 59, of Jackson, charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
  • Verlin Monk, 61, of Florence, charged with possession of crystal methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
  • Donald Grigsby, 52, of Byram, charged with possession of crystal methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
  • Gregory Fernando Grant, 33, of Jackson, charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
