Hub accident victim in ICU, car driver arrested

The motorcyclist injured in a two-vehicle accident near the Southern Miss campus in Hattiesburg Thursday night is still in the hospital in critical condition.  Meantime, the motorist whose car collided with him has been arrested in connection with that wreck. 

Hattiesburg Police Department have charged motorist Darron Howard, 21, of Jayess, MS with felony leaving the scene of an accident causing serious bodily injury.

Hattiesburg Police say the victim, identified only as a male in his early 20s, is currently in the Intensive Care Unit of Forrest General Hospital. Officers say his motorcycle was struck around 9:30 p.m. by a Chevrolet that was allegedly going the wrong way on Highway 49.    

Police say the motorcycle was headed south and was hit at the 7th Street overpass.
