Verizon Wireless has turned on 4G LTE in Hattiesburg and Laurel.
Verizon marked the release of the latest generation of wireless network technology by holding celebrations at stores across the country Thursday morning.
Data consultant, Ryan Carver says if you are a Verizon customer you've probably been enjoying 4G all day. 4G LTE is all about speed. Faster downloads, access, and Carver says no more buffering.
Customers in Hattiesburg got the chance to win new Verizon Wireless 4G LTE devices, but the day wasn't all tech talk. Verizon donated $4000 to the Hattiesburg Domestic Abuse Family Shelter.
The President of the Board of Directors for the shelter, Joy Lubritz says the funds couldn't have come at a better time.
"The outside of the building in Hattiesburg has lead paint. It's very expensive to remove the lead paint there's a lot of federal guide lines, and that is what we are going to be using this money for," said Lubritz.
