The Jones County Junior College women's soccer team downed Pearl River Community College 2-0 in Ellisville on Tuesday night, capped a 12-0-1 season, with their only tie coming on the road against the previously number one ranked team in the country. The Bobcats finished unbeaten at 8-0 in South Division play.

After a scoreless first half, the Bobcats' Temple Hughs scored in the 71st minute, and Kesley Cochran followed suit with a goal of her own less than two minutes later to double the home team's lead. Aundrea Borchardt preserved the shutout by deflecting the Wildcats' six shots on goal.

JCJC finished as the South Division champions, and will travel to Poplarville for the state tournament, which will begin with Itawamba at 3:00 pm. The men will take on North Division champion Holmes at 1:00 pm.

While the women in Ellisville celebrated a division title, so too did the men who reside down Interstate 59. After a 3-1 win over the Bobcats, Pearl River Community College finished with a 11-1 overall record, and a 8-0 mark in league play.

The Wildcats controlled the pace in the early goings Tuesday night, and struck first when Austin Douglas clocked one to the lower corner of the net to give PRCC a 1-nill lead. Mike Allizzo scored later in the first half on a penalty kick that sailed over the JCJC defense, brilliantly curved left, past the goal keep and into the corner that upped his team's advantage by one.

JaMarcus Ducksworth cut the Wildcats' lead in half just before halftime, but it wasn't enough. JCJC finished their season 5-7-1, and finished second in South Division play with a 4-3-1 record.
