HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

United States Senator Roger Wicker of Mississippi says he believes Mitt Romney "will take it to the President" on his failed record in Tuesday nights debate in New York.

This is the second of three debates between President Obama and Romney. Many of the polls indicate Romney has closed the gap considerably between him and the President and some even show him leading.

Tuesday nights debate format will be a town hall meeting where members of the public will have the opportunity to ask question of the candidates.

"In this setting with the town hall type setting I think there will be a lot of discussion about the administrations failed record to deliver on promises," said Wicker. The administration promised to cut the deficit in half. Of course we know the debt has exploded the last four-years. We've had record unemployment for month after month year after year. So I think there will be a discussion of the plans for both of them going forward."

Tuesday nights debate will air starting at 8 p.m. local time. The third and final debate is Monday, Oct. 22.
