Residents who travels Monroe Road and Church Street in South Jones County and Northern Forrest County will soon have a brand new road to travel and it will also have a new name.
Monday, Jones County Supervisors joined with supervisors in Forrest County in renaming the newly constructed road just off Interstate-59, Monroe Road exit to Warren Mott Parkway.
Warren Mott is the father -in-law of the late civil right leader Vernon Damher.
The road is being built on land that the Mott family once owned back in the early 1900's.
Vernon Damher Jr. said his grandfather was an upstanding figure in the community and it's an honor to have the road named after such a great man.
Mott Parkway is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
