A day of collecting canned food, from you, the community, for the Christian Food Mission in Laurel made a big difference.
Founder and director of Christian Food Mission, Richard Smith says the van load of food the mission received from the Stuff- A- Truck donations will make a difference for the mission and the people they serve.
Smith says the price of food is high and the donations from the public will allow them to supply groceries for families in need and hot meals. Smith says they are very thankful for the food, but it probably won't last until the holiday, so they are always welcoming donors and volunteers.
"Well, we are just very thankful. We are totally dependent on volunteering and contributions. We have no other support. We are structured that way, so money and food that we receive to fund our program is totally dependent on volunteers and contributions," said Smith.
Smith says other food drives for the mission will take place next month at Kids Kingdom Day care in the Glade Community, and North East Jones High school.
