It was a heartfelt homecoming for Jones County Sheriff Deputy Tony Stiles as he returned home to Jones County Friday.
Stiles was injured during a hostage standoff in July. He was hit five times with an SKS rifle by Neil Newcomb, once in the left arm and four times in the stomach.
On Friday evening, hundreds of people lined the streets of Sandersville as the deputy and his wife, Tina Stiles, rolled through town after a 60-day stay in the UAB in Birmingham.
Residents held up welcome signs and cheered.
Sheriff Alex Hodge said that Stiles is "indeed a miracle."
Stiles' wife, Tina, said the homecoming ceremony was overwhelming, and her family is grateful to the people of Jones County.
