USM student's missing flute recovered

A Southern Miss Junior who reported her $7,000 flute stolen is happy to report the flute has been returned.

Aliesha Phillips, a flute performance and education major and a member of the Pride of Mississippi Marching Band, said her instrument was returned on Thursday.

Another student told her he found it in a parking spot next to Pride Field on Wednesday near the area where Phillips said it went missing.

She said that she now believes the flute never left the area.

Phillips offered a $600 reward for the finder, but the student refused to accept the reward. Phillips says she is thankful to have her flute back.
