USM police arrest suspect in hit-and-run case

The University Of Southern Mississippi announced Thursday that police arrested a suspect in a Sunday hit-and-run near campus that left one student injured.

Southern Miss Police Chief Bob Hopkins said officers were able to use footage from the scene to help identify the suspect who was arrested on Wednesday. The suspect does not attend USM.

A USM student was traveling across 4th street by bicycle on Sunday afternoon when a white SUV struck the student at a crosswalk and sped away. The injuries were not life threatening.
