$2.4 Million upgrade coming to Sumrall Middle/High School

Students at Sumrall Middle and High School are sure to have a much more enjoyable lunchtime experience, thanks to a $2.4 million upgrade slated to begin this week.

The Lamar County School District approved the $2.4 million new cafeteria Monday evening. Preliminary work is expected to begin this week, with completion anticipated before the start of the 2013-2014 school year.

Dr. Burnett, superintendent of the Lamar County School District, said the project will be entirely funded with school district funds. Thanks to the allocation of monies during previous budgets, no loan was needed to fund the project.

The old cafeteria will be converted into eight new classrooms.
