Prentiss Public Safety Complex dedicated to fallen police officer

PRENTISS, MS (WDAM) -

The Town of Prentiss dedicated their Public Safety Complex Monday to a police officer who was killed in the line of duty in 2001.

The complex is the new home of the Prentiss Police and Fire Departments. The building is the former home of the National Guard Armory. It has been completely remodeled and gives the departments more space to work in. It has a kitchen, sleeping quarters for three firefighters, a weight room and a classroom.

At the ceremony the complex was dedicated to Police Officer Ron Jones. He was killed in action during a 2001 drug raid.

"Ron Jones is a very vital part of our community. He gave his live serving and protecting the citizens of Prentiss and his memory lives on," said Prentiss Mayor Charley Dumas. "It was a great honor to be able to honor him today."

Several family members and friends of Jones attended the ceremony.
