Jones County Sheriff deputy making great strides after being shot

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Jones County Sheriff Deputy Tony Stiles is making great strides towards a full recovery after being critically injured in a stand off seven weeks ago.

Sheriff Alex Hodge said each time he visits Stiles in Birmingham he notices tremendous progress.

Hodge said Stiles still has a long road a head of him but things are much better than doctors once expected.

Hodge said Stiles is off the ventilator and able to speak through a tracheotomy tube and is moving just about every limb of the body.
