LUMBERTON, MS (WDAM) -

Taxes will be going up in Lumberton next year. Thursday night, the Board of Aldermen, by a vote of 3 to 2, approved a $1,051,050 fiscal budget for 2013.

It includes a millage increase of just over 6 mils, from 48.49 to 55.41 mils.

The budget for fiscal year 2012 ending Sept. 30 is estimated to be $988,577.

Next year's budget also includes a re-instatement of Mayor Miriam Holder's $7,200 annual salary. The Board voted not to pay that salary this year.

Aldermen were facing a Sept. 15 deadline to approve that budget.
