Hattiesburg was compared and ranked out of 259 small cities across America. Of the 259 small cities, the study revealed Hattiesburg having the lowest crime rate, and increased employment in areas of health, education, leisure and hospitality sectors. One retiree gave her reasons way the hub city was the place for her to age successfully.

"I like the feeling that it is still kinda of a home town feeling around it. The people are all so friendly. I have never felt strange or unhappy here," said Hattiesburg Retiree, Marlene Spielman.
