Local young girls kickoff year with Boot Scootin' Boogie

Cowboy boots, hats and line dancing, that's how the year kicked off for young girls better known as Sweeteas.

They're like a little girl scout troop but with a touch of southern grace and they're our little southern belles," says Sweeteas Coordinator Jennifer Gunn.

Thanks to Forrest General's Spirit of Women, the Sweeteas Club enjoyed a special day with their parents.

"Spirit of Women is an organization where we help promote health to women who also turn it around to their family," says Gunn.

In their best western gear, not only do Sweeteas know how to line dance, but they also learn the essence of a true southern girl.

"They do all different types of things in the community. Community service, they have meetings once a month so they're also learning about healthy decision making skills," adds Gunn.

While the Sweeteas also learn about community involvement, there's one thing about the club they enjoy the most.

"I just like hanging out with my friends," says Sweetea Caroline Shappley.

The Sweeteas Club is designed for young girls in grades Pre-K through sixth grade. If you would like to register your daughter you can contact Forrest General's Spirit of Women at 601-288-3372 or email jgunn@forrestgeneral.com.
