LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Eight trucks loaded with relief supplies for storm victims in Pearl River County arrived in Picayune Friday afternoon.

The trucks were load down with non-perishable food items and cleaning supplies.

The Fire Marshal's office is working in conjunction with the Mississippi Food Service, state legislators, and several state and local agencies. Deputies and Fire Inspectors were involved with the transport of the supplies.

Many homes in south Pearl River County were heavily damaged by widespread flooding and strong winds. Especially hit hard was Picayune.

"We have people who are in need. That's what we're all about, helping people," said Ricky Davis, Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal. "You have people who really need these supplies and we're more than happy to get it to them."

Davis says if the need arises they will step in to help once again.
