CPSC issues recall of window blinds

A toddler's recent death is prompting a massive recall of nearly 500,000 window blinds.

The vertical and horizontal custom blind from Blind Express were sold from January 1995 through December 2011.

CPSC officials say the affected vertical blinds do not have a cord-tensioning device attached to the wall or floor, and the horizontal blinds do not have inner cord stop devices.

The two-year-old girl was strangled in the loop of a vertical blind cord.

Officials recommend visiting www.windowcoverings.org for a free repair kit – and to check all the blinds in your home, even if yours aren't recalled.
