Tate Reeves attends First Friday breakfast in Hattiesburg

The Southern Oaks House and Gardens parking lot was jammed with traffic at 7 a.m. Friday as guests scrambled to attend the Pine Belt Area Development Partnership's monthly First Friday breakfast.

Approximately 222 local business people - along with about six elected officials - crowded in to hear Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves speak over plates of grits, bacon and eggs.

"I believe the results speak for themselves," said Reeves of the economic measures passed in recent legislative sessions.

He listed tax cuts for businesses and an overhaul of torte reform as two of the key drivers improving the economy.

Organizers and event staff said the crowd was significantly larger than the usual early morning gathering sees, which is generally closer to 150.
