Hattiesburg serial armed robber may have struck again

LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - The Lamar County Sheriff's Department is searching for a suspect who robbed an Oak Grove Convenience store Tuesday night.

Sheriff Danny Rigel says a black male wearing a black ski mask walked into the Fast Mart Exxon on the corner of Old Highway 11 and Highway 24 at about 10 p.m. and demanded money. He escaped with an undisclosed amount of money on foot heading west.

The Hattiesburg Police and Lamar County Investigators are looking into the possibility that the robbery suspect could be linked to four other convenience store robberies in Hattiesburg in the last two weeks. They say he matched the description given of the robber in each of those robberies and in each case he was wearing a black ski mask.

The suspect is described as a slender black male, about 5-feet 11-inches-tall. At the time of the Tuesday's robbery in Oak Grove he was wearing a gray long sleeve jacket, dark pants, and gloves.

Anyone with information on any of the robberies call Metro Crime Stoppers at 582-STOP, the Lamar County Sheriff's Department at 601-794-8610, or the Hattiesburg Police Department at 601-544-7900.
