ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats hosted top-ranked Tyler Junior College (Texas) here Labor Day afternoon.
The Lady Bobcats tied the defending national Lady Apaches, 1-1.
The Lady Bobcats took a 1-0 lead at 34:06 when Kelsey Cochran, a Greene County freshman, scored.
The lead held up until 74:10 when Jahmela Williams scored for Tyler.
Each team had opportunities over the final 15 minutes of play, but could not score.
Aundrea Borchardt, a sophomore from D'Iberville, was in goal for JCJC.
Monday's game was scheduled to make up for rainouts JCJC had last week because of Hurricane Isaac. Tyler had beaten Mississippi Gulf Coast 6-1 Sunday in Perkinston.
The Lady Apaches were 23-0 in 2011.
Both JCJC soccer teams will be in action on Wednesday at Meridian Community College. The women's game begins at 5 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7 p.m.
The Bobcat soccer teams will host Co-Lin Community College at 5/7 p.m. on Friday in the MACJC South Division openers.
