WAYNE COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Wayne County emergency management authorities have been busy assessing the damage to roads, bridges and homes after Hurricane Isaac. Officials said about 15 county roads were either damaged or washed out.
Three county bridges were also heavily damaged. Nearly 20 people were also evacuated for a time because of the rising water.
Officials say the damage estimates are between $800,000 and $1,000,000.
"We've done mostly re-routing of (motorists)," said Todd Cleary, executive director of Wayne County Emergency Management.
Officials from the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency will be assisting Wayne County authorities with damage assessments beginning Tuesday morning.
