Nearly 600 accounts in Jones County lost power from the thunderstorm caused by Hurricane Isaac.
The outages on Dixie Electric's system have scattered throughout the county with the largest number out from Ellisville on Highway 29 South.
The first outage report was called in at 1:40p.m. Power was restored to all of the members by 3:40p.m., and there was a report of a tree on a power line.
"We are checking in local contract crews that will clear the debris from the lines, and we are also checking in local contract line crews that can help restore power. These crews are in addition to our own line crews," General Manager Randy Smith said. "Additional crews are on standby."
Members of Dixie Electric can report power outages using the toll-free number 888-465-9209. This number dials the Association's call center directly.
Dixie Electric serves 38,000 accounts in Jones, Wayne, Forrest, Perry, Clarke, Covington and Jasper counties.
