Health department offices closing

The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) county health department clinics, district offices, and WIC Distribution Centers in the lower half of the state will be closed August 29 due to Hurricane Isaac.

The following countries will be affected:

Adams, Amite, Covington, Franklin, Forrest, George, Greene, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Jones, Lamar, Lawrence, Lincoln, Marion, Pearl River, Perry, Pike, Simpson, Smith, Stone, Walthall, Wayne and Wilkinson.  

The MSDH anticipates reopening the county health department clinics, district offices, and WIC Distribution Centers for all services August 30. Employees are asked to call the MSDH Employee Hotline 601-576-7599 for the latest on office, clinic and WIC Distribution Center closures.

Residents in the counties listed above seeking health department services are urged to call their county health departments first before visiting.

    Southern Miss looks to add a Conference USA tournament title to its regular season crown this week in Biloxi. The Golden Eagles (39-15, 23-6 C-USA) open tournament play against UAB on Wednesday at 4 p.m. inside MGM Park. "Certainly, this tournament it's no different than a regional atmosphere, that's what it's about,” said USM head coach Scott Berry.
