JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Hurricane Isaac is disrupting travel plans in the Pine Belt area.
The Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional airport canceled all commercial flights on Tuesday. The last flight for Delta left Tuesday at 6:30 a.m. Executive Director of the airport, Tom Heanue, says Delta is not scheduled to come back to the airport until 10 a.m. Thursday. However, Heanue says the airport is open to anyone with private aircraft.
"I will not close the airport unless the weather gets significantly bad. We would like to leave it open for any type of private aircraft that need to come and go. Especially for any of those that may be on the coast who are still trying to escape the storm and need to come up here, and park their airplane," said Heanue.
Heanue says if anyone has a flight with Delta they need to call Delta or go to www.Delta.com.
