HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Congressman Steven Palazzo is reacting to the death of a Mississippi soldier in Afghanistan. On Aug. 19, Sgt. 1st Class Coater Debose passed away in Spin Boldak of injuries suffered from small arms fire while conducting security force assistance operations.

He was from Stateline.

Palazzo, who is also a sergeant in the Mississippi Army National Guard, says the soldier's loss is a reminder that we still have members of our armed forces in harm's way.

"We are still a country at war," said Palazzo. "The Global War on Terror is happening everyday. I'm going to honor Sgt. Debose and thank him for the sacrifices that he's made to keep our country safe and keep it free here, by taking the fight to the enemy," Palazzo said.

Palazzo would also like President Obama to speak more about our specific goals in Afghanistan.

Palazzo was in Hattiesburg Tuesday night, attending the 2nd annual William Carey University Endowed Scholarship Dinner.
